The Forest Queen is situated in the heart of the San Juan Mountains 6 miles
north of Silverton. Built among aspen and pines with plenty of privacy and
phenomenal views, this finely crafted house was designed with the goal of
uniting a love and appreciation of the outdoors with an architecturally
stylish and comfortable abode. With plenty of windows and high ceilings, the
outdoors simply become a part of the interior and serve to beckon you to
play... If you can drag yourself away from this comfortable nest.
The house has many unique features, such as flooring from recycled
fairground bleachers, a sink made from an old Maytag washing machine, a
stove pipe from a mining water line, an old saloon door, and two vintage
sinks (not to mention the large claw foot tub!).

The Forest Queen is ideally situated just minutes from Silverton Mountain
Ski area, and is unquestionably the closest and most luxurious house from
which you can access the San Juan's best four-wheel drive trails.
After a day of playing in the mountains, you'll rest on pillow top
mattresses with the finest 300+ thread count linens, trying in vain to
recall the last time you ever slept in a place so quiet.
During the summer months, access is easy, but we suggest 4 wheel drive or
all wheel drive vehicles. During the winter, guests enjoy a short (less than
1/4 mile) snowshoe or ski onto the property. Many guests prefer this special
time of year at the Forest Queen. We provide sleds for you to bring all of
your gear and provisions.

The house is both on and off the grid. With an on demand water heater,
guests will never run short of hot water.
